INDRA has 6'5" headroom, with an offset double berth forward, and an extra-wide settee and single berth in the main cabin, all with UltraLeather and latex foam rubber. There is a Blake Lavac head, pressurised water and shower with shower sump in the heads. A Dickinson diesel heater and large table are in the main cabin. Ventilation is provided by the opening ports, 2 hatches, 12 volt Caframo fans and 240 volt electric fans and 2 s/s dorades. The storage capacity is huge with numerous cupboards, drawers and hanging lockers. A large chart table has chart storage underneath. The quarter berth is now given over to drawers and lockers for tools and spares.


There is a large U-shaped galley with a 2 burner LPG stove with oven and broiler. The s/s sink has a pressurised water tap, alongwith a manual fresh water tap and a seawater tap. The large Isotherm fridge is powered with a Danfoss compressor and is seawater cooled. Ample bench space and cupboards allow the cook to have all normal kitchen appliances aboard. 2 aluminium LPS gas bottles are located outboard on the boomkin. The gas is controlled by a solenoid switch in the galley.


A Yanmar 4JH5E 54hp engine with 750 hours was installed in 2012. 2 new Racor fuel filters were fitted in 2014. Full engine spares and sets of filters are included.

Rig and Sails

Cutter rigged, there is a self-furling headsail and staysail, along with a new drifter. The main, headsail and staysail are 6 years old, the storm jib is 10 years old. All sails are in excellent condition. There are 7 winches. Tiller autopilot and Fleming wind vane. Spinaker and whisker poles, along with a flopper-stopper for less-than calm anchorages.


A new deck was laid in 2013. KiwiGrip anti-skid applied. (Details and photos of the process of replacing the core and reglassing are available). The aluminium mast with steps is deck-stepped. The windlass is an electric Lofrans with foot switch and additional up/down switch installed on the engine panel. The main anchor is a 35ib CQR with 80 metres of recently galvanised chain. The 2nd anchor is a CQR with 20 metres chain with 60 metres of line. A Danforth anchor is at the stern. A snubber line with custom chain hook leads to the bottom of the bobstay.  Two hatches on the cabin top give additional ventilation.  The S/S pulpit gives good access forward. S/S lifelines have 2 opening gates amidships. The pushpit has custom solid S/S rails from amidships to stern. A gas BBQ is fitted.  A removeable S/S boarding ladder is fitted. New Nutshell Pram design wooden dinghy with 2hp Yamaha outboard. A hard dodger, strong enough to stand on, gives shelter and offers excellent all-round vision with acrylic windows, one forward opening for ventilation.


4 deep cycle gel, 6 volt golf-cart batteries give the house bank a 440amp capacity. Balmar smart charger enables quicker charging. There is also another battery charger when at a marina. 2 solar panels of 100 watts each, are mounted on an arch at the rear. They can be rotated in both fore/aft and sideways to follow the sun. A Morningstar solar controller. An electric bilge pump with alarm. Another large capacity manual bilge pump is operated from the cockpit.

Electrics and Navigation

Furuno 1832 radar, Furuno GP-32 GPS, ICOM VHF, ICOM IC-718 SSB radio with Pactor PTC-IIe modem are located above the navigation table. A Sea-Me radar signal enhancer amplifies your position on the screen of the approaching ship. There is a Sony MP3//CD player with 4 speakers. Cockpit instruments are a Navman speed and depth sounder, 2 each Raymarine ST4000+ autohelms and a Ritchie compass. The dodger has LED lighting. A 12v/240v inverter, EPIRB, computer with external GPS with charts and navigation software loaded.

Tools, Spares and Safety Equipment

INDRA is set up for offshore cruising with complete spares for engine, toilet, pumps, lighting etc. For safety, an EPIRB, manoverboard pole, Lifesling retrieval bag, flares, Para anchor and drogue, and fire extinguishers are included.
